SQL Server 2017 Developer on CentOS 7.9

SQL Server 2017 marks a significant stride towards making SQL Server a versatile platform that offers flexibility in development languages, data types, and deployment options, whether on-premises or in the cloud, across various operating systems. It extends SQL Server’s reach to Linux, Linux-based Docker containers, and Windows environments. SQL Server 2017 introduces a plethora of new features, enhancements, and performance optimizations.

The resumable online index rebuild feature allows you to restart an online index rebuild operation from the point of interruption due to events like failovers or insufficient disk space. It also enables pausing and later resuming online index rebuild tasks.

A new generation of query processing improvements is designed to adapt optimization strategies dynamically based on the runtime conditions of your application workload. In this initial release of the adaptive query processing feature set, there are three key enhancements: batch mode adaptive joins, batch mode memory grant feedback, and interleaved execution for multi-statement table-valued functions.

Automatic database tuning is an intelligent feature that provides insights into potential query performance issues, offers recommendations for solutions, and can even automatically implement fixes for identified problems.
