It’s a RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 9 image, designed as a foundational system for building and testing other applications.
To access it, use the username ‘ec2-user’ and SSH public key authentication. The root login is disabled for security reasons.
It comes with an integration with RedHat Update Infrastructure (RHUI) across all AWS regions. This allows you to install new RPM packages and updates without needing a RedHat9 subscription.
