Gitea is an open-source self-hosted Git platform that operates across various platforms. Managed by the community, Gitea is a lightweight code hosting solution coded in Go. It operates under the MIT license and shares similarities with GitHub, Bitbucket, and GitLab. Gitea was initially developed as a fork of Gogs.

The primary aim of this project is to present the simplest, fastest, and most straightforward method of establishing a self-hosted Git service.
