FIPS 140-2 Compliant Baseline Image for CentOS 7

This product is a rebranded open-source software package with supplementary charges for both operating system patching and maintenance services provided by Kurian.

The FIPS 140-2 (Federal Information Processing Standard) is a critical cryptography benchmark. It’s obligatory for non-military U.S. federal agencies, government contractors, and service providers to adhere to this standard when interacting with federal government bodies handling sensitive but unclassified (SBU) data. Recognized by the U.S., Canada, and the European Union, FIPS 140-2 sets the security protocols for managing information, covering collection, storage, transfer, sharing, and dissemination.

The included Amazon Machine Image (AMI) aligns with FIPS 140-2 compliance at both the operating system and application levels. This allows for running applications on this platform, ensuring compliance with requirements and enhancing the runtime environment’s security.

Kurian has introduced preconfigured software applications, including CMS platforms, Jenkins, databases, LAMP stack, Ansible, and popular tools in the DevOps toolchain, along with monitoring applications. These applications are extensively utilized by system administrators and DevOps engineers. Additionally, Kurian offers specially fortified images based on CIS benchmarks for selected Linux distributions. Notably, Kurian AMIs are meticulously assembled following official installation procedures, eliminating the need to learn any bespoke processes for additional configurations.
