An IIHT Company

This is a rebranded open-source software package, and it comes with additional fees for support and maintenance provided by AskforCloud LLC.

Packer is an open-source tool that enables you to generate identical machine images for multiple platforms from a single source template. A common use case is creating “golden images” that various teams within an organization can utilize in their cloud infrastructure.

The HCP Packer registry acts as a link between image creation and deployment processes, facilitating collaboration between development and security teams. It allows them to jointly create, manage, and utilize standardized golden images from a centralized location.

The HCP Packer registry also stores metadata about your images, including their creation timestamps, cloud locations, and any associated git commit data linked to image builds. This registry provides valuable insights into the golden images produced by Packer, helping you categorize which images are suitable for testing and production environments. It simplifies the selection of the right golden images for use in both Packer and Terraform configurations.
