Linux operating systems AMIs are patched and uptodate on the day of the release, and the updates are published every quarter. These AMIs are ideal to be used in automated provisioning processes such as that in an autoscale group without having to worry about the availability of latest patches and the delay of applying those before adding the machines to a cluster.
